Get out of your own way and transform your giving.
I recently learned from a client that the first thing she does each day is read a chapter from my award-winning book Confident Giving: Sage Advice for Funders and reflect upon how it relates to her work. She said, “It was helpful to get my mind oriented to where it ought to be. Less focused on tasks and more focused on, ‘Where are we going and how do we get there?’”
As a writer and an advisor, I cannot begin to tell you how meaningful it is to hear this. To learn the advice I share in my newsletters and books helps philanthropists be more effective each day is powerful. I can help funders increase their impact even when I’m not around!
I believe the vast majority of philanthropists across the globe—including you—genuinely want to make a difference and change the world. Maybe not the whole world, but your corner of it. And yet, we all get stuck. We get in our own way. We get caught up in the back to back meetings. The overflowing inbox. The tedious proposal review. We get in our own way when we feel overwhelmed. We get in our way when guilt and fear prevent us from investing in ourselves, ultimately hindering our impact.
That’s why I’m so excited to share with you my next book, Delusional Altruism! It will be published by Wiley in February 2020. Don’t worry, I will tell you more about it in the months ahead. Right now, I’m still finalizing the manuscript. But I can’t wait to share with you the many ways we are all “delusional” in our altruism. How we get in our own way without even realizing it. And you know me—the book also provides tons of tips and suggestions of what you can do differently to transform your giving!
In the meantime, in honor of my client, I’m giving away my first book for free! Confident Giving: Sage Advice for Funders is available in paperback on Amazon.com for $14.95, but now YOU can download the PDF version for free. It’s my gift to you. If even just one of the ideas I share in the book helps you, it’s worth it (and if it does, please email me to tell me what you did differently!)
Be sure to stay tuned for news about my upcoming book — many more details to follow! If you’re interested in my philanthropic advisory services, schedule a call with me or shoot me an email to learn more. We’ll get you achieving your philanthropic goals so you can focus on having a lasting impact on your community.
Thank you for reading this — and thank you for all you do to make the world a better place!
